Working with organizations outside Sweden
Services / Working internationallyOnline mentoring and conference talks in English, plus advanced ITIL courses for teams.
I have worked across borders for most of my career. From 2012 to 2019, I led IT infrastructure and transformation work for multinational clients in Sweden, Germany, the United States, China, and Canada, and trained more than 300 people across eight R&D centers spanning 15 time zones. Organizations outside Sweden that come to me directly work with me through Amsonia AB.
Online mentoring
One-to-one video sessions for practitioners and leaders putting service management into practice, wherever they are based. Mentoring runs as a three-month package of six sessions, one every two weeks, each lasting 60 to 75 minutes. There is no fixed curriculum: we work on what is in front of you, whether that is establishing a practice, leading a change, preparing for an advanced certification, or taking the next step in your career. Sessions are scheduled in your time zone, wherever you are. I have taught students in nearly every time zone in the world.
Conference talks and workshops
I speak on service management, where it came from, and where it is heading. Each talk grows out of one of my articles, and any of them can run as a hands-on workshop instead.
- Closer to Home: ITIL's guiding principles among the modern frameworks
- The Accidental IT Strategist: Machiavelli and service management
- The Art of Service: Sun Tzu and IT leadership
- Drinking with the Philosophers: a Monty Python curriculum for ITIL
- Sacred Texts and the Service Desk
I give talks online and travel from Stockholm for in-person events, with travel and lodging billed at cost.
Advanced ITIL courses for teams
When several people in your organization need the same advanced course, I can teach it online in English for your team alone. I teach the full current range after Foundation: ITIL (Version 5) Product, Service, Experience, Transformation, AI Governance, and the Managing Professional Transition, as well as the ITIL 4 Practitioner, Specialist, Strategist, and Leader courses. Certification runs through an accredited training organization, as the scheme requires: BiTA Service Management for organizations already working with BiTA, Learning Tree for clients elsewhere, and Peopleteam in Denmark. Other accredited training organizations looking for an instructor for advanced courses are welcome to get in touch.
An outsider who adapts to the room
I am a native English speaker who has lived in Sweden since 1998, and in most of the countries where I have worked, I was the foreigner. Doing that well for more than two decades taught me to read what a group needs and adjust, rather than expect the group to adjust to me. Since 2012, I have taught more than 400 courses to over 4,500 participants from more than 300 organizations, with average ratings above 4.8 out of 5.
